I'm Officially a Lonely Planet Costa Rica Guidebook Author
Also, loads of new articles are live
Hi friends,
Okay, so technically, I just contributed to a brand new Lonely Planet book about quiet places around the world. I was so excited about the four pages I wrote about Madeira, Portugal, that I dedicated an entire newsletter to How a Fabulous Press Trip to Portugal was Responsible for the Book Inclusion. As excited as I was, it was just a four-page feature in a themed book, not a full chapter in a guidebook. Though I write a bit of everything, I’m a guidebook writer at heart and this is where I shine.
So…..imagine how thrilled I was to officially receive my contract this morning from Lonely Planet to update a huge chapter on San Jose, Costa Rica. Yeeees!!!!! The pic above is from a truly absurd, poorly planned, and occasionally dangerous guided bike tour I did last time I was in San Jose. It was sketchy, unsafe, and not unsanctioned by the tourism board. That tour was all my idea!
More info below and info I’m seeking for the guidebook.

Seeking Costa Rica Connections
I’ll be spending about two weeks in Costa Rica in mid-December doing research for the enormous San Jose chapter of Lonely Planet’s Costa Rica guidebook. This is a crazy last-minute affair that will take up most of December, so if I didn’t respond to your gift guide pitch, this is why. I will be updating the San Jose chapter so if you rep new hotels, restaurants, cafes, attractions, or tour companies in San Jose - I want to hear from you!
I’ll be checking out tons of hotels (at all price points), restaurants, shops, theaters, museums, and other attractions; putting together neighborhood guides and walking tours; and researching what’s worth seeing/buying/trying, and what’s not.
Unfortunately, I will have so much research to conduct in San Jose before flying to see my mom for Christmas that it’s unlikely I’ll be able to get to the jungle (though I’m determined to get in some time at the beach!)
Requirements: Must be in San Jose, Costa Rica. Please do not pitch other destinations.
