Seeking bike experts + Midwest restaurants for Thrilist & Sierra Club
And save the date for the IMM Power Hour Dec 11
Hi friends,
I know it’s Thanksgiving week and I know I sent out a newsletter yesterday but I just landed two new assignments that I need to submit before I fly to Costa Rica next weekend.
Also, I am including an early preview of a special webinar that my friend and colleague, Joni Sweet, and I will be hosting on December 11.
Thank you so much and Happy Thanksgiving!
Cassandra
P.S. The pic above is from my niece’s first camping trip last month. I can’t wait to fly back to see her tomorrow.
IMM Power Hour
Joni Sweet and I have attended International Media Marketplace (IMM) in New York every January for years—and we want to help travel publicists and other vendors make the most of their time at the conference in 2025.
I’ll send out a bigger, official announcement next week but if you want to secure your slot now, here’s the link to register.
Please note that this special webinar is only for paid subscribers to BOTH of our newsletters so upgrade to paid then check out the link to register.
CURRENT EDITORIAL NEEDS
1. Thrillist - Midwest Foodie Roadtrip Destinations
I'm writing a roadtrip guide from Minneapolis to Indianapolis and I’m seeking super unique restaurants along the way (think Hmong food in Minneapolis, Laotian in Madison, and Burmese in Indianapolis). The purpose of the piece will be to highlight interesting cultures and cuisines that tend to not be associated with the Midwest (which is basically built out of cheese curds and tater tots, right?)
Requirements: I am ONLY considering unique restaurants directly on the route from Minneapolis to Indianapolis.
Subject line: Thrillist Foodie

2. Sierra Club - Winter Cycling
I'm working on a new piece for Sierra Club about what to know when biking in the winter so I’m seeking a bike shop owner or mechanic, a cycling guide, or some other relevant expert who could weigh in.
Specifically, I’m seeking tips for how to bike safely and comfortably in the winter, both in terms of protecting your bike and keeping it in good shape and also riding responsibly (allowing extra time to break on ice) and wearing appropriate gear.
Requirements: I am only considering experts in cities associated with significant snowfall.
